The Cathedral of the Good Shepherd in Fairview, Quezon City was our parish for the past several years since we moved to Fairview. Our family, especially my father-in-law was an active member of the parish being a Parish Pastoral Head during the time of Msgr. Jesus Romulo Ranada's term. They did wonders to the Cathedral by renovating the altar area to adapt an art deco look as part of one of the many projects they both have done.
Now that my FIL is residing abroad and that Msgr Romy is now assigned to OLAP church, we (hubby and me) were tasked to do misallettes (a "pamana" project of FIL because he was the one assigned to produce the misallettes for the cathedral) to offer those soon-to-weds a reasonable alternative for their ceremony guide. Unfortunately, I don't have any good picture taken showing the misallettes which costs very cheap! Presyong Good Shepherd only! hehehe :)
After sometime I asked Ate Deling of the Parish office if the soon-to-weds have coordinators to help them during the day. Sad to say, most of the couples who apply there do not hire wedding coordinators, most due to budget constraints. Then there's this couple, Alvin and Jhunay (Aug. 27, 2012) whom I made some misallettes for, who don't have a coordinator hired to help them. So I said to myself, why won't I be a volunteer wedding coordinator for the Cathedral??? (*light bulb on my head*) And boy did I give it a try! Of course, with permission from Ate Deling, it was just a quick ceremony service rendered since I only assisted the couple and family prior to the start, with the usual tasks that we do pre-ceremony, down to the assembly and then to the recessional. And you know what? I really felt good - the feeling you have attached with a big smile across your face - ear to ear grin! It was that kind of feeling I felt after this wedding which didn't cost the couple one cent! For me this is one memorable service (for my parishes) that I am willing to offer anytime they need me.
Miss you Ate Deling & Papa! Promise to do this again very soon!
For God's glory!!!
